MY DEFINITION OF CORRUPTION

Hello people, my name is Dayo. I want to share my thoughts with you. I started today at work deliberating over a beautiful policy with my colleagues. A policy that is of great benefit to Nigerians if we allow it work and if Nigerians are ready to take the bull by the horn and learn all they can to move the country forward.

Its no news that the gospel of "local content" or "proudly Nigerian" is been preached. We are glad to embrace that move but, how prepared are we to enforce this. There is an adage that says, "you can force a horse to the river but, you cannot force it to drink water". Certain bodies have been established to enforce local content and they equally drive hard on human capital development programs. Now my problem is with those who think the policy is just for the papers and hence will want to push those policies aside. Those people i call "wicked". They can be likened to those who need a job but cannot develop their own CV or those who cannot take an initiative to have a small business by the side to sustain themselves. Now when we talk about corruption, in my opinion i will say those who are aware of policies that will benefit Nigeria and toss it aside to favour themselves are "wicked and corrupt". Those who would do nothing but wait for manna to fall from heaven are "wicked and corrupt". Those who have been given an opportunity to work and and understudy their principals but, have been careless and lazy at work are "wicked and corrupt". There are opportunities out there but only the prepared will grab it all.

Man know thyself, corruption is not all about stealing funds and lying. It is about your negative attitude to your family, organisation and nation. Be the best man on the job. Pick up those policies you tossed to a corner because it was at your disadvantage and give it life again for the benefit of all.

If we must make our nation great then we must be ready to work and be true to our course.
