TACKLING CHALLENGES WHEN PLANNING A WEDDING - MONEY

A day never goes by without someone somewhere planning for their wedding. During the planning phase and the wedding day, there exist some challenges that must be managed to avoid a pitfall. 

For a start, we would focus on Money. This is an important element needed for any successful event. Over time, we have had couples complain about the funds needed to plan their wedding. 


First, we advise our clients to have a picture of what type of wedding event they desire, the location, the number of guests, and how the invitation would be managed. These are major determinants in developing a budget.

Tackling this challenge would involve:

  1. Strategic savings: saving specifically for the wedding could be done separately from other savings. We advise that this type is done with a high-interest yielding account. This form of savings is more beneficial for long-term savings.
  2. Wedding scope: every couple has an idea of how they want their events to turn out (low or high budget wedding). First, we advise that every couple have a mutual agreement on this aspect. This also would involve the immediate family. Sell your wedding dream to them and be flexible to allow some changes from their input, but, never allow their demands to push you to the corner of debts. Politely stand your ground and stick to the plan. 
  3. Guest capacity: the number of guests you invite to your wedding determines the cost of refreshments, gifts, and decoration. In some cases, provision of accommodation for the guests. 
  4. Discipline: it is imperative that the couple works with a budget for their wedding. This involves a lot of discipline.
